B&W: Net

I’m back to black and white, this week. It’s an all-encompassing theme, a go-to when I’m undecided about what to feature.

Today, I have this image of something simple–a basketball net. Here’s what I like about it. First, there’s all that white space. So much emptiness, there, in most of the photo. Second, the net itself, so minimal. And third, the obstruction, blocking your view of the entire net.

I like obstructions, partly because they make the viewer work to see the focus of the work, plus they can give the image more depth, literally. The pole is in the foreground, the net beyond that.
