The holidays: Sneewittchen
Sometimes it’s best not to talk too much about what an image is about, and let the viewer make up their minds about it. However, sometimes I want to lead the viewer, a little.
To me, there’s a lot going on in this image, but let’s just talk about two of these elements, rather than talking too much about the image.
First, the name Sneewittchen, the original name for the Snow White tale in Grimm Fairy Tales. Once you know the meaning of the name, the image takes on a darker meaning, referencing the original versions of the Snow White tales, which are far scarier and horrifying than what she’s evolved into.
Secondly, just on the surface, Snow White is asleep, again, under cellophane, awaiting to be rewoken, adding to the general creepiness of the image.
I think there’s much more going on with this image, but I’ve said enough. Please draw your own opinion.
