The park: Your master?

Just about everywhere you go in the US, you see locks, often Master locks (Do they have other locks in other countries?). I think it’s safe to say Americans are overly preoccupied with security and seeing these locks everywhere is a manifestation of that.

Does everything need to be locked up, at least to the degree I see? Probably not.

So, yes, when I take a photo of a lock, I’m commenting on this in my small, little, art photographer way. But I’m also commenting on the hard beauty of locks. They’re shiny and eye catching, and often stand in contrast to what’s being locked away, such as a rusty gate or a weather door.

There’s a certain beauty to that.
