Random: Haniwa horse
This is a photo an antique, Japanese horse sculpture from an exhibit at DC’s National Gallery of Art’s.
One of my things is to get up close, to look at the parts of the whole. That makes the viewer experience the sculpture in a different way. I’m sure there are a million photos of this horse in full view. When I get close, I’m looking at a part of the horse, but I’m also looking at more than the whole of the horse.
And that’s your koan for the day: Sometimes the part is greater than the whole.
