Flowers: Dogwood, square format

Usually I shoot in 16:9. I have some reasons for this. One is it’s the aspect ratio of the net. No other aspect ratio takes advantage of the real estate of your monitor the way 16:9 does.

Square format, 1:1 aspect ratio, is also becoming popular in the digital age. And that’s because it’s a nice ratio for your phone. 16:9 is a better format for mobile, if you turn your phone horizontal, but who does that?

So here’s a pretty dogwood flower in square format. I thought it looked good this way. It’s not a format I’ll use that often–not now, anyway–but it’s good to keep trying different things.
