In the dark: Three feathers

Let’s talk about framing a little. When you take a photo, the edges of your picture are essentially your frame. There’s a tendency on the part of photographers to make sure everything gets inside that frame.

As you can see from this photo, I don’t do that.

Sometimes it’s more interesting to me to lead the your mind’s eye beyond the limits of the frame.

The feathers in this photo are moving towards the edges, leading your eye, but on the left and at the top edges they extend beyond what you can see and making you use your imagination to construct what comes beyond the edges of the frame.

In my opinion, this makes a photo more interesting for the viewer.
