Portrait orientation: The Goddess’s hand

This is the companion photo of the Golden Goddess. When I take a photo of something or someone, I sometimes like to focus on parts rather than the whole. I felt the hand of this statue was especially interesting and important, so I took a photo just of the hand and it’s position.

When I look for a photo, I don’t tend to take photos of the “whole”, I tend to focus more on the individual components. In my mind, if a subject has lots of interesting features a picture of the “whole” isn’t going to capture the importance of those individual features.

Sometimes the parts are at least as important as the whole.
