Fall: Pine cone

Today’s pic is a pine cone. It’s a bit like yesterday’s pumpkin, because I photographed the pine cone in a similar way, getting very close.

There’s only about half the cone in the image and I’m right up on top of it. I think this makes you look at the pine cone and see it in a way you might not, usually. At first glance, you might not even realize it’s a pine cone, but then your mind puts it together and you figure it out. I like the way you can see into the ridges of the cone and that white stuff (No idea what that is.) looks a little like snow.

I think this is a really nice photo: The image is sharp, I love the tones, and I think I’ve managed to present something mundane in a more interesting way.
