Self portrait in bathroom mirror

I think given my preferences, I’d rather be photographing people. Unfortunately, people aren’t always available or willing to have their photo taken. But I am. It’s probably one of the reasons artist often take self portraits–there’s no more willing subject than you. Except, maybe your dog. Kirk, my dog, is just about people, but not everyone will see him that way.

Here’s a self portrait of me in a mirror. It’s no Nan Goldin (Known for intimate self portraits, among other things.), but I think it’s nice. My lines are good, almost perfectly vertical–not bad for not using a tripod–and my arms are nicely placed in the corners. This one was taken on auto. I have started using manual mode much more, so we’ll see how future photos look.
