EverQuest Next: Something about Aug 2

What’s happening on August 2? Oh, aren’t you all excited to find out? It’s something about EverQuest Next, the latest incarnation, spinoff, expansion, re-imagining, or whatever  of EverQuest.

Since the beginning of the dawn of MMO time, some players have been pleading for a new EverQuest. These are, of course, MMO masochists and people who have forgotten how tedious EverQuest was and is. You want to wait 3 hours for that boss spawn? Have fun.

EverQuest Next was chosen Best of the E3 Show by a couple of internet gaming sites who would have nothing to gain – like say advertising dollars – from choosing it as an award winner. Skeptical? You betcha.

Anyway, there’s a big, la-di-da announcement on August 2. Should you be excited? No, of course not. There’s no chance this game is going to be ready this year or even sometime next. There’s no info on the website, which might be the crappiest MMO site in the world, and gameplay footage has been very limited. The game appears to be a long way from actual release, so there’s nothing to get excited about here.
