Destiny: A new game from Bungie and Activision
Activision and Bungie, the creator of Halo, just released the first trailer to hype their new game Destiny. Destiny “is an ambitious evolution of the first-person action genre that brings gamers together in a shared, persistent world.” The ideas they’re talking about in the video make it sound like it will be an awesome game, and with the backing of Activision and the Bungie’s creative team, there’s every reason to think it will be.
But before you go off all crazy excited, let’s be very clear from the outset there’s no announced release date for this game and Activision (ATVI) has not included it in its 2013 outlook. That’s a pretty strong indication you will not see this game in 2013. As the press release says, “Activision reiterated that although Bungie’s amazing new world was revealed today, Activision has not included the launch in its 2013 outlook and there should be no speculation or expectation of a different result.”
You can pre-order the game from Amazon, if you really want to give someone else your money to make interest on. Following a very suspect and misleading practice, Amazon lists the release date as December 31, 2013. Do not believe this; believe the press release. Amazon doesn’t know any more about the release date of Destiny than anyone else.
