President Obama focuses on guns not video games
President Obama released a comprehensive plan for curbing gun violence in America, today. The proposed measures focused on sane gun control measures, such as banning assault weapons and placing limits on high-capacity magazines. The only mention of video games was a proposal to have the Center for Disease Control conduct research into any links between gun violence and video games and other violent images.
“[T]he Administration is calling on Congress to provide $10 million for the CDC to conduct further
research, including investigating the relationship between video games, media images, and
violence.“
Given all the research that’s already been done in this field, it’s a waste of taxpayer money, but the good news is the video game industry isn’t being made into a scapegoat.
