Guild Wars 2: What’s the market say a Black Lion chest is worth?

Supply. Demand. The yin and yang of economics. Put together in the right circumstances, they can work wonders. Let one or the other get out of whack and your market becomes inefficient, favoring either the buyer or the seller, depending on the direction of the out-of-whack-ness.

It would appear ArenaNet might want to rethink their supply of Black Lion chests. Currently, the chests drop too often, 2 or 3 times in a night. The things are fairly common, so common, now, the price for an unopened chest on the trading post is around 3 to 5 coppers.

A few weeks ago, I posed the question, Is it worth it to buy a Black Lion key? From a practical point of view, if you’re going to buy the things in a Black Lion chest – the boost and consumable – it is worthwhile. Unfortunately, it would seem most players have decided it’s not worth it to spend real money to get the keys, leading to an over abundance of supply, i.e. the chests.

I wonder how many of these people are just destroying?
